Learn More About Food Labeling Systems
Cost-effective label applicators.
Food packaging comes in a very wide variety of shapes and styles. Pouches for cereal to sauces; bags of produce or noodles; jars of oils, sauces or pickles; clamshells of bakery goods or spices; and boxes of everything under the sun.
No one labeling system will fit the bill on all of those, so you have to make sure you get the right applicator for your product line. Luckily Weber has over 90 years of experience helping customers find the right fit for their application. We can help you with either one of our Weber Alpha HSM or Alpha Compact applicators or one of the easy-to-use Pack Leader systems.
Let's explore the different types:
- For flat box labeling on top, bottom or sides, the Alpha HSM (high-speed) or the Alpha Compact (economical) label applicators can do the job. Extreme reliability and product support keep your Alpha system up and running.
- The Alpha HSM is available with powered unwind and rewinders for increased label accuracy. Both systems can be mounted in any direction to add the label where you need it. Use two systems for top AND bottom labeling.
- For clamshell labels, often called C-wrap labels, you need a system that can wrap the label around three sides of the container. This acts as a closure as well as allowing a larger, longer label to include ingredients, nutrition facts and a UPC bar code.
- The Pack Leader PL-211CS is perfect for this application. It presents the label in front of the moving container which then runs into the label. As it travels forward, the label is wrapped around the container using brushes on top and bottom. This is often used in bakeries and for fresh produce in clamshell packaging.
- Round food containers, such as bottles of oils or jars of sauces, are easy to label. There are a couple of options depending on how fast your production line is moving. For hand-fed or slower-speed lines, the Pack Leader ELF-50 can label up to 20-30 products per minute. It is an economical, portable solution that needs very little operator training.
- For faster labeling or to use larger labels, the Pack Leader PL-501 (shown) lets you label 40-50 products per minute. This is a standard for breweries and companies needing labels up to 6" tall. Available with optional feeding system or an accumulation table for packing.
- If you are labeling pouches and need a small portable system at an entry-level price, the Pack Leader ELF-20 is a great option. Using the optional feeder, you can load up a pile of flat, un-filled pouches and they will be automatically fed into the labeler.
- For larger, faster applications, we can help you with a custom Alpha HSM or Alpha Compact system with pouch feeders and hold-down belts for accuracy.
