“Green” initiative pays off in two big ways!

Here at Weber’s Arlington Heights, IL plant, we print A LOT of labels every day. And that means plenty of waste that used to go to the landfill.

Not anymore.

We just completed a project that will now turn that former waste – about 3 million pounds a year – into fuel. How did we do it?

Well, we had something like a giant trash compactor custom-built to literally pack waste from our label presses into semi trailers, which are then picked up by a company in nearby Wisconsin that converts them into fuel pellets for use by coal plants.

So, what have the two “green” pay offs been?

We not only improved our manufacturing efficiency by lowering our waste removal expenses, we also greatly reduced our carbon footprint on the environment. And we think those are two very worthwhile results.
